DirecTV Group on Wednesday announced a carriage agreement with Spanish-language public television network HITN-TV under which the channel will be included in certain DirecTV packages.

The network, which provides educational and entertainment programming geared toward Hispanics, will be available to customers receiving the DirecTV Para Todos package, which provides a combination of Spanish-language and English-language channels, and to all DirecTV customers who are equipped with an 18-inch by 20-inch multi-satellite dish. The channel will be available starting Aug. 16.

HITN-TV began operations in 1987 as the first Hispanic public TV network in the United States and currently reaches an audience of around 12.5 million.
