Monday’s season premieres of NBC’s “Fear Factor” and “Last Comic Standing” beat out Fox’s new reality show “The Complex: Malibu” in both households and adults 18 to 49, with “Fear Factor” winning the night among adults 18 to 49 with a 4.5 rating and 13 share.

According to Nielsen Media Research’s fast national ratings, the two-hour premiere of “The Complex” gave Fox a fourth-place network finish for the night among households with a 2.4 rating and a 4 share, and a fourth-place showing among adults 18 to 49 with a 1.7 rating and a 5 share. In contrast, last season’s time period premiere of “Joe Millionaire” and “Skin” garnered a 4.6/7 among households and a 3.0/8 in the adults 18 to 49 demo.

The one bright spot for “The Complex” was its growth half-hour to half-hour in adults 18 to 49 ratings (1.4 > 1.5 > 1.8 > 2.1) and total viewers (3.1 > 3.2 > 3.6 > 4.1 million).

The 90-minute season premiere of “Fear Factor,” with its 6.4 rating and 11 share among households, was weaker than its 2003-04 premiere, when the show did an 8.3/12. It was also down among adults 18 to 49, from a 6.1/16 last year to last night’s 4.5/13. “Last Comic Standing” dropped off from its “Fear Factor” lead-in, but with a 3.8/10 in adults 18 to 49, was virtually tied with “CSI: Miami” and the last hour of ABC’s “Monday Night Football.”

On a night of paltry overall viewership, ABC won the night among households with its preseason NFL game between Tennessee and Dallas. ABC scored a 7.0 rating and 11 share with CBS’s repeat comedy block and “CSI: Miami” coming in a close second with a 6.6 rating and 11 share.
