Time Warner Cable pulled the plug in its New York markets on Cablevision’s MSG Network and Fox Sports Net New York and Metro Channel programming at midnight Saturday in a dispute over programming fees. TWC’s on-air explanation over the weekend was that Cablevision had “refused to sign an extension to allow us to continue carrying these channels while we work on a new agreement.”
MSG Networks President Mike McCarthy released a statement Sunday saying: “We have offered fair and reasonable rates. … We call upon Time Warner Cable to end their outrageous anti-consumer behavior and immediately restore these popular channels.”
Time Warner promised subscribers a $2-per-month rebate for the channels they no longer were receiving.
