The National Cable and Telecommunications Association reported that consumers in 177 of 210 local television markets can now receive high-definition service from their cable operators, including all of the top 100 markets. In addition, there are 454 local broadcast stations being carried digitally, up from 304 in December of last year. All told, of the 108 million TV homes today, HDTV service can be accesses in 90 million of them by a cable system, up from 70 million last December, NCTA said.
