ESPN said today it plans to produce special editions of “SportsCenter” originating in front of American troops in the Middle East for a week starting Sept. 12. “We want to give something back to the men and women who are serving the country,” said Norby Williamson, senior producer of “SportsCenter.”

He said the 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. editions of the show will be produced live from Camp Arifjan, which is about 35 miles from Kuwait City.

The shows will be anchored by Kenny Mayne and Steve Levy and produced in front of a live audience of 750 to 1,200 servicemen and women.
