CBS Wins Week With Viewers; Fox Scores in Demo

CBS won the week of Oct. 11 to 17 in viewers, but Fox captured the week in adults 18 to 49 thanks to baseball.

CBS’s “CSI” was the No. 1 show for the week in both viewers (28.89 million) and adults 18 to 49 (10.4 rating), according to Nielsen Media Research. “CSI: Miami” was second for the week in viewers (21.94 million), but ABC’s soapy mystery drama “Desperate Housewives” took second place in the demo with a 9.5 rating.

NBC’s “ER” was third in the demo (8.2), edging out “CSI: Miami” (8.0) and NBC’s “The Apprentice” (7.7). In total viewers. “Housewives” was third with 20.87 million, followed by CBS’s “Without a Trace” (19.35 million) and “Survivor: Vanuatu-Island of Fire” (19.16 million).

With the baseball league championships, Fox won Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday in total viewers, and Tuesday and Saturday in the demo. Sunday night’s game between the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox was Fox’s highest-rated baseball offering in adults 18 to 49 for the week, scoring a 5.9 rating.

Fox won the week in adults 18 to 49 with a 4.2 rating, followed by NBC (4.0), CBS (3.9), ABC (3.8), and The WB and UPN (both 1.6).

CBS won the week in total viewers with 12.87 million, followed by Fox (11.81 million), NBC (10.15 million), ABC (10.02 million), The WB (3.95 million) and UPN (3.71 million).
