A spokesman for Fox News Channel said chief political correspondent Carl Cameron has been “reprimanded” for a made-up piece that was posted on foxnews.com after Thursday’s presidential debate and which was removed Friday afternoon.

The piece, which purported to quote Democratic challenger John Kerry gushing the morning after the debate about his manicures and his metrosexual appeal, “was based on a reporter’s partial script that had been written in jest and should not have been posted or broadcast. We regret the error, which occurred because of fatigue and bad judgment, not malice,” said a statement on foxnews.com.

A Fox News spokesman declined to say how Mr. Cameron had been reprimanded. “It’s over. We are moving on,” said the spokesman. “He continues to report. And it’s over.”
