Comcast on Tuesday said that former Time Warner Cable Chairman and CEO Joseph Collins was elected to the cable giant’s board of directors.

Mr. Collins, who is presently chairman of Aegis LLC, will serve as an independent member of Comcast’s board. The company did not indicate on which committees Mr. Collins will serve.

Mr. Collins began his career at the American Television & Communications Corp., later becoming president of Home Box Office. He later returned to ATC, becoming chairman until Time Warner Cable acquired ATC in 1992. From 1989 to 2001 Mr. Collins served as Time Warner Cable’s chairman and was later named chairman and CEO of AOL Time Warner Interactive Video.
