Fox Wins Week With Baseball

Thanks to stronger-than-expected postseason baseball and a the beginning of a high-profile World Series, Fox took the fifth week of the 2004-05 season in total viewers and the adults 18 to 49 demographic.

The No. 1 program for the week of Oct. 18 to 24 was Game 7 of Major League Baseball’s American League Championship Series, which garnered 31. 46 million viewers and an 11.8 rating in adults 18 to 49, according to Nielsen Media research.

Among adults 18 to 49, the No. 2-ranked show was ABC’s “Desperate Housewives” with a 9.7 rating, followed by CBS’s “CSI” (9.6), Game 6 of the American League Series (9.5) and Game 2 of the World Series (9.0)

Among total viewers “CSI” was second with 26.54 million viewers, followed by Game 2 of the World Series (25.46 million), Game 6 of the American League Series (25.08 million), and Game 1 of the World Series (23.17 million).

Fox took the week in total viewers with 21.98 million, followed by CBS (11.94 million), NBC (9.60 million), ABC (8.87 million), UPN (3.6 million) and the WB (3.6 million).

Fox also won the week in adults 18 to 49 with a 7.8 rating, followed by CBS and NBC (both tied with a 3.7), ABC (3.4), and The WB and UPN (both 1.6).
