Scripps Networks on Wednesday said it hired radio veteran Ed Hardy to oversee the transition and ongoing operation of Great American Country, the country music network Scripps agreed earlier this month to buy for $140 million.

Mr. Hardy will join Scripps as a senior VP and report to John Lansing, executive VP of Scripps Networks. Jeff Wayne, president of GAC, will report to Mr. Hardy.

Mr. Hardy previously worked as CEO of MeasureCast, an Internet-streaming broadcast audience measurement company. Before that, he worked at Citadel Broadcasting and Deschutes River Broadcasting. Earlier in his career Mr. Hardy was a general manager of radio stations in Denver; Louisville, Ky.; and Portland, Ore.
