ABC Strikes Gold in Golden Globe Noms

“Desperate Housewives” is a hit with the Golden Globes, winning a nomination for best comedy or musical series and nods for four of its actresses. With “Lost,” ABC’s two new hits gave the resurgent network the most nominees of any broadcaster.

HBO had the most nominations overall, with a broad array of its series receiving recognition. Cable network FX also fared well, with actors in three of its series earning nominations.

In addition to “Desperate Housewives,” the nominees for best comedy or musical program are Fox’s “Arrested Development,” HBO’s “Entourage” and “Sex and the City” and NBC’s “Will & Grace.”

Nominated for best actress in a comedy or musical program were “Housewives'” Marcia Cross, Teri Hatcher and Felicity Huffman, Debra Messing of “Will & Grace” and Sarah Jessica Parker of HBO’s “Sex and the City.” Another “Housewives” star, Nicolette Sheridan, was nominated for best supporting actress.

Nominated for best actor in a comedy or musical were Jason Bateman of “Arrested Development,” Zach Braff of NBC’s “Scrubs,” Larry David of HBO’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” Matt LeBlanc of NBC’s “Joey,” Tony Shalhoub of USA Network’s “Monk” and Charlie Sheen of CBS’s “Two and a Half Men.”

The nominees for best drama series are Fox’s “24,” HBO’s “Deadwood” and “The Sopranos,” “Lost” and FX’s “Nip/Tuck.”

Nominees for best performance by an actress in a drama series are Edie Falco of “The Sopranos,” Jennifer Garner of ABC’s “Alias,” Mariska Hargitay of NBC’s “Law & Order: SVU,” Christine Lahti of The WB’s “Jack & Bobby” and Joely Richardson of “Nip/Tuck.”

The actors nominated for best performance in a drama series are Michael Chiklis of FX’s “The Shield,” Denis Leary of FX’s “Rescue Me,” Julian McMahon of “Nip/Tuck,” Ian McShane of “Deadwood” and James Spader of ABC’s “Boston Legal.”

The nominees for best miniseries or motion picture made for television are PBS’s “American Family,” HBO’s “Iron Jawed Angels,” “The Life and Death of Peter Sellers” and “Something the Lord Made” and Showtime’s “The Lion in Winter.”

Best performance by an actress in a miniseries or motion picture made for television nominations went to Glenn Close for “The Lion in Winter,” Blythe Danner for CBS’s “Back When We Were Grownups,” Julianna Margulies for TNT’s “The Grid,” Miranda Richardson for PBS’s “The Lost Prince” and Hilary Swank for “Iron Jawed Angels.”

In the category of best performance by an actor in a miniseries or motion picture made for TV, the nominees are Mos Def for “Something the Lord Made,” Jamie Foxx for FX’s “Redemption,” William H. Macy for TNT’s “The Wool Cap,” Geoffrey Rush for “The Life and Death of Peter Sellers” and Patrick Stewart for “The Lion in Winter.”

Nominees for best performance by an actress in a supporting role in a series, miniseries or motion picture made for television are Drea de Matteo of “The Sopranos,” Anjelica Huston of “Iron Jawed Angels,” Nicolette Sheridan of “Desperate Housewives” and Charlize Theron and Emily Watson for “The Life and Death of Peter Sellers.”

In the category of best performance by an actor in a supporting role in a series, miniseries or motion picture made for television, the nominees are Sean Hayes of “Will & Grace,” Michael Imperioli of “The Sopranos,” Jeremy Piven of “Entourage,” Oliver Platt of Showtime’s “Huff” and William Shatner of “Boston Legal.”
