TV news veteran Jeff Gralnick has been signed as Internet and technology consultant to NBC News President Neal Shapiro. The assignment is effective immediately.

“Jeff has been instrumental in a number of critical projects within our division over the past two years,” Mr. Shapiro said. “As our business plan sharpens the focus on growth and new business initiatives, technology and the Internet has become an increasingly important platform for us. Jeff will work with Rick Kaplan at MSNBC and me to maximize our opportunities in this arena.”

Mr. Gralnick was executive producer of “NBC Nightly News” from 1993 to 1996. He returned to NBC News in 2002 as a consultant in a variety of areas across NBC News. He spent 25 years at ABC News, where, among other things, he served as a VP and executive producer of special events and “World News Tonight” and launched ABCNews.com.

He is a six-year member of the board of councilors at the USC Viterbi School of Engineering Integrated Media Systems Center.
