Nielsen Media Research Makes Changes in Management

Nielsen Media Research President Susan Whiting on Monday announced a series of changes, effective Jan. 1, to the TV ratings company’s senior national management.

Sara Erichson will become general manager of national services, responsible for all national sales and operations and report to Ms. Whiting. Ms. Erichson had been senior VP of sales and marketing of national services since early 2003.

Dave Thomas will become senior VP of strategy and business development, responsible for, among other areas, negotiation and policy planning with respect to major corporate contracts and client relationships. Mr. Thomas also will report to Ms. Whiting.

Scott Springer will be general manager of operations, based in Nielsen’s global technology and information center in Brooker Creek, Fla., and also will report to Ms. Whiting. Mr. Springer will be responsible for information technology and media technology services, field operations, call centers, the universal metering initiative, time shifting and other back-office services.

Ms. Whiting asked Mr. Thomas and Mr. Springer to serve as interim co-general managers of national services two years ago.

Monday’s announcement said that Operations General Manager Susan Buchanan previously informed Ms. Whiting about plans to leave Nielsen in spring 2005 to pursue other interests and spend more time with her family.
