Game maker WildTangent announced Monday the release of “24: Countdown,” a premium online game based on the Fox television series “24.”

The game lets players assume the role of “24” lead character Jack Bauer and sends them on a chase to foil the plot of a terrorist cell. Over the course of a simulated 24-hour period, players must disable enemy vehicles in three chase sequences. The successful completion of each sequence leads Jack closer to saving Las Vegas from imminent nuclear disaster.

LG mobile is a sponsor of the game. Throughout “24: Countdown,” players receive communications from CTU headquarters via an LG cellphone. The advertiser also received integrated ad placements within the game environment.

The fourth season of “24” premieres with a two-hour episode Sunday, Jan. 9, at 8 p.m. (ET), which will be repeated Monday, Jan. 10, at 8 p.m. The show’s time period premiere is Monday, Jan. 17, at 9 p.m.
