Showtime has elected not to go to series on its pilot “Hate,” starring Oscar winner Marcia Gay Harden. (TelevisionWeek profiled the making of the pilot in its Jan. 3 issue.)
The series was about hate crimes units of the New York City Police Department and would have been shot in the Big Apple. Some Showtime insiders indicated that a cop show looked too much like broadcast television to fit on a pay-cable channel.
Showtime shot six pilots and is expected to announce pickups later today. The “Hate” pilot is expected to air on Showtime this year.
