“Today” co-anchor Matt Lauer will host “Greatest American,” a seven-hour prime-time event that will be telecast in June as part of Discovery’s 20th anniversary celebration. Members of the public can nominate as many as five people they think have most embodied the American dream on America Online through Feb. 16. The field will be whittled down via online, telephone and text-messaged voting after and in other forums. By the time “Greatest American’s” run ends, the public will have had a vote in determining who that is.
