Univision Communications on Wednesday named Ray Rodriguez president and chief operating officer of the Spanish-language broadcaster, promoting a 15-year veteran who most recently oversaw the company’s television properties.

All of Univision’s business properties will report to Mr. Rodriguez, who in turn will report to Univision Chairman and CEO Jerrold Perenchio.

Mr. Rodriguez joined Univision in 1990 as VP and director of talent relations and was promoted to senior VP and operations manager for the Univision Network a year later. In 1992, the year Univision was acquired by its present controlling group, Mr. Rodriguez was named president of the Univision Network, and in 2001 added the title of president of cable network Galavision and new broadcast network TeleFutura.

Before joining Univision, the Cuban-born Mr. Rodriguez was a 10-year veteran of accounting firm Deloitte & Touche, and before that spent six years working with singer Julio Iglesias, four of which as Mr. Iglesias’ CEO and worldwide manager.
