Five new series will join Adult Swim in the fall, Cartoon Network announced at its upfront presentation Thursday. The series are “The Boondocks,” from cartoonist Aaron McGruder; “Stroker & Hoop”; “Squidbillies,” from the co-creator of “Aqua Teen Hunger Force”; “12 Oz. Mouse,” from the other co-creator of “Aqua Teen Hunger Force”; and “Perfect Hair Forever.”

In May the network will add “American Dad,” which like “Family Guy” also appears on Fox. Adult Swim said it is greenlighting new seasons for “The Venture Bros.” and “Aqua Teen Hunger Force.” Four pilots will air in October: “Moral Orel,” “Saul of the Mole People,” “Lucy: Daughter of the Devil” and “Minori-Team.”

Adult Swim, which began as a late-night block on Comedy Central, will be treated as a stand-alone network by Nielsen Media Research beginning March 28.
