Betty Cohen Chosen as Lifetime Chief

Former Cartoon Network President Betty Cohen on Thursday was named president and CEO of Lifetime Entertainment Services. Ms. Cohen, who succeeds Carole Black, starts her new job April 26.

Ms. Cohen was chosen by a search committee comprising Anne Sweeney, co-chairman of media networks for The Walt Disney Co.; and John Conomikes, director of Hearst Corp. Disney and Hearst each owns half of Lifetime.

Before launching Cartoon Network, Ms. Cohen was senior VP and general manager of TNT and held posts at Nickelodeon/Nick at Night. Earlier in her career she was managing senior producer of on-air promotion at Lifetime Television.
