Cablevision N.Y. Nets Could Be Removed From Time Warner Cable

Cablevision Systems and Time Warner Cable are playing hardball as an interim carriage agreement for Cablevision’s Fox Sports Net New York and Madison Square Garden Network is set to expire at midnight tonight.

A Time Warner spokesman said Cablevision has demanded that the channels be removed from Time Warner systems if a new agreement is not reached. The spokesman said Time Warner has made several proposals in the past few days, and that its offers of a seven-month extension and arbitration have been rejected. Cablevision has advised that Time Warner will face copyright infringement charges if it broadcasts the channels without permission, the spokesman said.

An MSG Network spokesman declined to discuss the particulars of the negotiations, but said, “We hope the situation gets resolved before it has any effect on our customers.”
