Fox to Re-Air ‘Idol’ After Voting Snafu

In response to Tuesday night’s episode of the music competition series “American Idol,” which aired with an incorrect phone number for audience voting, Fox has decided to run a live one-hour episode Wednesday to allow for a revote.

Typically, after the contestants have been whittled down to 12, “Idol” viewers can vote at the end of each Tuesday performance episode via phone. On Wednesday’s elimination episode, the singer with the lowest voter total is kicked off the show. On Tuesday numbers for three singers were incorrect during the East Coast feed for the show, making the voting results inconclusive.

The Wednesday 9 p.m. (ET) show will combine clips of Tuesday night’s performances with new material, and once again allow audience members to vote for their favorite singers. A half-hour results show will air Thursday at 9 p.m.

A preview of Fox’s new half-hour comedy “Life on a Stick,” which was set to air Wednesday, will now air after the “Idol” results show on Thursday.
