Fox Wins Demo; CBS Tops in Viewers

For the week ended March 20, Fox was the top network in the adults 18 to 49 demographic, while CBS came out No. 1 in total viewers.

The top-rated show in both adults 18 to 49 and total viewers was Fox’s Tuesday edition of “American Idol,” which scored an 11.5 in the demo and garnered 28.43 million viewers, according to Nielsen Media research.

Both rankings mirrored each other in the No.2, No. 3 and No. 4 spots: Wednesday’s “American Idol” scored a 10.8 rating in the demo and 24.68 million viewers, CBS’s “Survivor: Palau” got a 6.9 in the demo and 18. 42 million viewers and Fox’s rookie medical drama “House” had a 6.8 rating and 17.33 million viewers.

Fox’s “Simple Life 3” came in fifth in the demo with a 5.8, while CBS’s took the same spot in total viewers with 17.29 million.

Fox won the week in the demo with a 4.1, followed by CBS (4.0), NBC (3.2), ABC (2.9), UPN (1.3) and The WB (1.1).

In total viewers CBS was tops with 11.97 million, followed by Fox (9.74 million), NBC (9.38 million), ABC (8.23 million), UPN (3.21 million) and The WB (2.72 million).
