The Walt Disney Co. on Monday said it has hired former AT&T Wireless spokesman David Caouette as VP of corporate communications. He replaces John Spelich, who left several weeks ago to join computer maker Gateway.

A 20-year public-relations veteran, Mr. Caouette will be responsible for financial reporting, legislative and regulatory issues, corporate reputation management and executive communications. He will report to Zenia Mucha, senior VP of corporate communications.

He most recently worked at AT&T Wireless, overseeing the company’s $41 billion merger with Cingular Wireless. Before that, Mr. Caouette was financial communications director for AT&T and did a stint at GE Capital.
