Colleen Halpin has been named senior broadcast producer of NBC’s “Today,” effective immediately. There had been speculation (TelevisionWeek, April 25) that such a move was in the works for Ms. Halpin, who was supervising senior producer of “The Jane Pauley Show” and who worked closely with Ms. Pauley and Tom Brokaw while she was a producer for “Dateline NBC.”

“Her extensive experience with NBC News — from documentaries and profiles to breaking news and investigative reports — will be invaluable to me and to the entire team at ‘Today,'” said Jim Bell, recently named executive producer of the NBC morning show.

Ms. Halpin succeeds Polly Powell, who recently became the Burbank bureau chief for NBC News.
