A new suggestion that NBC Universal and Microsoft are bent on extricating themselves from their 99-year commitment to be equal partners in MSNBC appears in an Online Journalism Review article posted this week, titled “MSNBC.com survives, thrives despite trouble between parents.”

“One source with inside knowledge told me the TV joint venture is likely to end in the next three to six months,” wrote reporter Mark Glaser, without equivocation, who quoted the source as saying, “Both [TV channel] partners are motivated to change the relationship and will do so soon.”

An NBC Universal spokesperson said, “We continue to enjoy our partnership with Microsoft on MSNBC and MSNBC.com and are always engaged in conversations about how to enhance our working relationship. We will continue to jointly strengthen and grow MSNBC and MSNBC.com.”
