CBS is promoting Nancy Daniels and Joe LaBracio and adding former producer Sandy Varo to its alternative series development department.

Ms. Daniels has been named VP, and both Mr. LaBracio and Ms. Varo have been named directors.

All three executives will develop new alternative programming while working on CBS’s current stable of reality series, including the latest edition of “Big Brother,” which premiered Thursday, and “Rock Star: INXS,” which debuts next week.

Ms. Daniels, who reports to CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler, had been a director in the department since she joined CBS in December 2003 after three seasons working with executive producers Arnold Shapiro and Allison Grodner on “Big Brother.”

Mr. LaBracio, who reports to Ms. Daniels, was a manager in the department. He joined CBS in February 2003 as an assistant. Previously, he spent two years in Washington as the assistant to Ted Koppel at ABC News “Nightline.”

Ms. Varo, who also reports to Ms. Daniels, joins CBS following 10 years as a freelance television producer. Most recently, Ms. Varo was a story producer on “Big Brother” and Fox’s “Hell’s Kitchen.”
