DirecTV plans to carry MTV Desi, a channel designed to serve young South Asian Americans, effective Tuesday, the network said Monday.

MTV said MTV Desi is the first MTV World channel to launch and that it expects to launch MTV Chi for Chinese Americans and MTV K for Korean Americans later this year.

MTV Desi will be part of DirecTV’s HindiDirect programming package. The price of that package will not change.
