After a week of mourning and tributes, ABC News is taking Peter Jennings’ name off the flagship newscast he anchored for 22 years. Effective Monday night, the telecast will be called “ABC’s World News Tonight.” Previously the program was called “ABC World News Tonight With Peter Jennings.”

Mr. Jennings died Aug. 7 at the age of 67 only four months after being diagnosed with lung cancer.

In an internal memo he issued Monday, ABC News President David Westin wrote, “After consulting with [Mr. Jennings’ wife] Kayce and the family, we concluded that leaving the broadcast’s title as it was through last Friday was an appropriate tribute to Peter. But, of all people, Peter insisted on accuracy.
