The second season of “The Contender” is scheduled to air on ESPN in April 2006, the network, Mark Burnett Productions and DreamWorks Television said Thursday.

The first season of the reality show drew disappointing ratings on NBC.

ESPN has options to renew the series for two subsequent seasons. Mark Burnett Production will handle the distribution of the series internationally as well as sponsorships and product integration.
