Martha Stewart’s Home Confinement Extended

Upcoming NBC Universal talk show host and prime-time reality series star Martha Stewart will be under home confinement for an additional three weeks beyond her original five-month sentence.

No reason was given for the extension, but it had been reported that Ms. Stewart was seen at a yoga class near her home in Bedford, N.Y., last week. Her home confinement was scheduled to end Aug. 10.

Ms. Stewart’s attorney, Walter Dellinger, released a one-sentence statement Wednesday that said his client “had agreed to an extension of the terms of her home confinement until August 31.”

In response to Mr. Dellinger’s announcement, a spokeswoman from Ms. Stewart’s Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia said in a statement, “We will be so happy to have Martha working without restriction at the end of the month.”

The extension is not expected to impact the production of Ms. Stewart’s new syndicated daytime strip, which premieres Sept. 12. Her home confinement has stipulated she can leave home to work for up to 48 hours a week. Her prime-time reality series “The Apprentice: Martha Stewart” wrapped production in June.
