Surfs Up For Lifetime’s ‘Beach’

Lifetime’s six-episode limited series “Beach Girls” was seen by 3.6 million viewers Sunday night.

“Beach Girls,” starring Rob Lowe, Julia Ormond and Cloris Leachman, is the network’s first limited series, which makes ratings comparisons a bit tricky. When stacked against Lifetime’s previous dramatic series, 3.6 million is the highest rating in the network’s history.

When compared to Lifetime’s original movies, however, recent debuts such as “Murder in the Hamptons” (4.8 million) and “The Dive From Clausen’s Pier” (4.2 million) fared better. Either way, the series won its time period versus all ad-supported cable networks among the network’s key female demographics.
