Cable Industry Uniting For Pay-Per-View Benefit Concert

Comcast, Cox, Time Warner, Cablevision and other cable operators are joining together to make available a live pay-per-view concert from Madison Square Garden to benefit relief and rebuilding efforts following Hurricane Katrina.

The concert, “From the Big Apple to the Big Easy,” will include famous rock musicians and New Orleans artists, including Elton John, Rod Stewart, Fats Domino, Lenny Kravitz and others.

The concert will air Sept. 20, cost viewers $19.95. and marks a precedent of using pay-per-view for disaster relief. Madison Square Garden is underwriting the cost of the event and has pledged a $1 million donation. Grammy Award producer Ken Ehrlich, Quint Davis, producer/director of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, will serve as executive producers.
