DirecTV said Thursday that it has reached an agreement with XM Satellite Radio to carry 72 music, children’s and talk channels on DirecTV’s satellite TV service.

The alliance will nearly double the number of audio channels offered by DirecTV, which will not charge extra for the additional channels. The expanded programming will be available starting Nov. 15, with subscribers to DirecTV Total Choice receiving 50 XM channels, while Total Choice Plus subs gain access to more than 65 channels. In addition, subscribers to DirecTV’s Spanish-language service Para Todos gain access to five Latin-music channels.

Among the content that will be available to DirecTV’s 14.6 million subscribers is XM’s Major League Baseball talk radio channel Home Base as well as the High Voltage channel, which features talk radio hosts Opie & Anthony.
