Haspel named NBCU’s VP of Corporate Community Affairs

Susan Haspel, the executive producer of NBC’s public service campaign “The More You Know,” has been named VP of corporate community affairs for NBC Universal. The announcement was made Monday by Anna Perez, executive VP of communications, to whom she will report.

Ms. Haspel replaces NBC Universal’s former head of Community Affairs, Sue Fleishman. She will remain based in New York and will manage community affairs staffs on both the East and West coasts.

Besides overseeing corporate community affairs, Ms. Haspel will serve as corporate liaison with NBCU businesses, the GE Foundation and GE Volunteers to help strengthen the company’s employee volunteer programs. She will continue as executive producer of “The More You Know,” which she co-created in 1989.

Ms. Haspel joined NBC’s community affairs division in 1984. She has won numerous awards for her work on “The More You Know,” including the National Television Academy’s Emmy Award, the George Foster Peabody Award, Entertainment Industries Council’s Prism Award and the Gracie Allen Award from American Women in Radio and Television.
