Just days after the announcement that Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld would make his maiden appearance on “Late Night With David Letterman” Tuesday, Sept. 6, the Bush administration official has postponed his visit to the CBS show, citing the Hurricane Katrina relief efforts along the Gulf Coast.

“We obviously understand this decision,” said “Late Show” executive producer Rob Burnett in the announcement of the change. “He is welcome to come here anytime.”
