It’s a girl for “Saturday Night Live” head writer and “Weekend Update” co-anchor Tina Fey and her husband, “SNL” composer Jeff Richmond. Their first child, Alice Richmond, was born Saturday in New York and weighed in at 5 pounds, 7 ounces. An “SNL” spokesman said Monday that mother, baby and father are doing well.

Ms. Fey and cast member Maya Rudolph will be on maternity leave when the season starts Oct. 1.

Who will sit in for Ms. Fey with Amy Poehler on “Weekend Update” has not been determined.

The “SNL” cast has expanded with the addition of Bill Hader, a member of Second City’s Los Angeles troupe, and Andy Samberg, a member of the Lonely Island collective, as featured players, along with Jason Sudeikis.

Kenan Thompson and Finesse Mitchell have been promoted from feature players to full members of the cast, which also includes the returning Fred Armisen, Rachel Dratch, Will Forte, Darrell Hammond, Seth Meyers, Chris Parnell and Horatio Sanz.
