ABC Wins Adults 18-49; CBS Keeps Viewers

For the third week of the 2005-06 season, ABC was once again the highest-rated network in the adults 18 to 49 demographic, taking three of the top five spots, including No. 1 with Sunday’s “Desperate Housewives.” Stability was also maintained in the total viewers race for the week, with the top spot again going to CBS.

For the week ended Oct. 9, “Housewives” scored an 11.1 rating in adults 18 to 49, according to Nielsen Media Research. CBS’s Thursday night procedural “CSI” was a distant second with a 9.8 in the demo, followed by ABC’s Wednesday night “Lost” (9.2), “Housewives” lead-out “Grey’s Anatomy” (8.0) and “CSI” lead-out “Without a Trace” (6.8).

In total viewers, “CSI” outperformed “Housewives” 28.9 million to 26.1 million. “Lost” came in third in viewers with 22.4 million, followed by “Trace” (21.3 million) and CBS Monday procedural “CSI: Miami” (18.7 million).

ABC won the week with a 4.1 in adults 18 to 49, followed by CBS (3.9), NBC (3.4), Fox (3.1), The WB (1.6) and UPN (1.3).

CBS won in total viewers with 12.8 million, followed by ABC (10.9 million), NBC (9.7 million), Fox (8.4 million), The WB (3.8 million) and UPN (3.3 million).
