CBS Ends ABC’s Winning Streak in Demo

CBS beat back ABC for the week ended Oct. 16 to finally take the top spot among the networks in the adults 18 to 49 demographic, ending ABC’s three-week winning streak in the demo.

ABC still had the top show in adults 18 to 49 with Sunday’s “Desperate Housewives,” which scored an 11.4, according to Nielsen Media Research. CBS took second place with Thursday procedural “CSI” (10.0), but ABC rounded out the top five with “Lost,” (9.4),”Grey’s Anatomy” (8.4) and “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” (6.8).

In total viewers, CBS again won the week, with “CSI” (28.3 million) outpacing “Housewives” (25.8 million) and “Lost” (21.7 million). CBS filled out the top five with “Without a Trace” (20.6 million) and “CSI: Miami” (18.5 million).

CBS won the week in adults 18 to 49 with a 4.2, closely followed by ABC (4.1). NBC was third with a 3.4, followed by Fox (3.3) and The WB and UPN (both 1.6).

In total viewers, CBS was the clear winner with 13.4 million, followed by ABC (10.7 million), Fox (10.5 million), NBC (9.6 million), The WB (3.8 million) and UPN (3.7 million).
