Comedy Central has renewed “Daily Show” spinoff “The Colbert Report” through 2006, the network announced Wednesday. The network originally ordered an eight-week run of the show.

“In two short weeks ‘The Colbert Report’ has seamlessly paired itself with ‘The Daily Show’ to form one of the smartest and funniest hours of television,” said Lauren Corrao, executive VP of original programming and development for Comedy Central. “Giving the show a full-year order was one of the easiest decisions I’ve ever made in my career.”

A tougher decision for Ms. Corrao is what to do with her two other new series — “The Showbiz Show With David Spade” and “Too Late with Adam Carolla.” Both debuted a month prior to “Colbert,” but have struggled for viewers and have not yet been renewed.
