Chris Cuomo has been named senior legal correspondent for ABC News in addition to continuing as a contributor-anchor on “Primetime.”

In his new assignment, Mr. Cuomo, a lawyer by training before he went into journalism, succeeds Cynthia McFadden. Ms. McFadden recently was assigned to the revamped “Nightline,” which will debut after Ted Koppel leaves the network at the end of November.

Mr. Cuomo’s reports on law and justice issues will appear on all ABC News platforms and programs.

In addition to his broadcast work, Mr. Cuomo, a son of former New York Gov. Mario Cuomo, hosts “Politics Live” on ABC News Now, the network’s digital subscription news service.
