E! Picks Up ‘Simple Life’

E! has acquired the former Fox reality series “The Simple Life” and ordered a 10-episode season, the network announced Monday.

The show’s de facto fourth season will be called “The Simple Life: Til Death Do Us Part” and will feature Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie filling in as the “wife” for various households (similar to “Wife Swap,” but without the swap).

The format allows the duo, who have had a rather public falling out, to appear in the same series without actually working together on camera. The high-profile acquisition also represents a departure for E!, whose original series have struggled to attract viewers.

“The Simple Life” is produced by Bunim/Murray Productions in association with 20th Century Fox Television. The new episodes were originally planned for Fox, which canceled the series earlier this year.
