FX has decided not to renew its Iraq war drama “Over There,” the network announced today. The Steven Bochco production was one of the top 10 highest-rated series basic cable debuts of all time. But the series dropped from a premiere of 4.1 million viewers to a 13-episode season average of 2.1 million.
“I’m deeply proud of ‘Over There,’ which was beautifully produced, acted, written and directed,” said John Landgraf, president and general manager of FX Networks. “[The decision to cancel] was motivated entirely by ‘Over There’s’ ratings performance and our belief that the numbers were reflective of what the show is about, rather than its quality or entertainment value.”
