Lifetime has ordered eight episodes of a new reality series chronicling a group of Kentucky cheerleaders and their parents, the network announced Monday.

“Cheerleader Nation” is the first nonscripted series ordered by Susanne Daniels since she became president of entertainment in September.

“This is a story about 23 girls — and 23 sets of parents,” Ms. Daniels said. “Filled with all the humor and heartbreak of adolescence, this series brings us into the lives of these competitive adolescent girls as they and their mothers struggle, together, to balance the difficult demands of high school.”

The series will be executive produced by Laurie Girion (“Wickedly Perfect”) and produced by Fox Television Studios.
