Spelling Lays Off Staffers

Dec 9, 2005  •  Post A Comment

Spelling Television laid off about 30 staffers Thursday in a move to consolidate administrative support with its parent company, Paramount Network Television, a Paramount spokesman confirmed.

The move leaves veteran producer and show creator Aaron Spelling in charge with about a dozen employees, but transforms Spelling Television into a pod deal at Paramount instead of a separate company.

Spelling Television produces “7th Heaven,” which is in its final season on The WB, and the network’s “Charmed,” whose future is uncertain. The company will still have a development fund to create new programming.
