CMT Scores Record Ratings for ‘Miss America’: CMT scored record ratings for its airing of the Miss America Pageant. The Jan. 21 event was seen by 3.1 million total viewers, besting CMT’s previous record holder, the “CMT Music Awards,” which was seen by 2.9 million viewers. During the three weekend telecasts, a total of 12 million viewers tuned in. Though the number represents a victory for the Viacom-owned network, the figure is still far below what the pageant earned during its years on broadcast.

“The buzz and promotion surrounding the pageant were like no other in our history, and the ratings were a resounding victory for the network,” said Paul Villadolid, VP of original programming and development for CMT.
