Comedy Central has ordered six episodes of “The Sarah Silverman Programme” (working title), a half-hour scripted comedy series to premiere this summer, the network announced Monday.

The show will star Ms. Silverman as herself, whose “absurd daily life will be told through an array of scripted comedic scenes and songs,” according to the network. “Sarah is a tremendous talent and we look forward to bringing her unique outlook and titillating point of view to our viewers through this incredible series,” said Lauren Corrao, executive VP of original programming and development for Comedy Central.
