Yahoo is getting into the portability act with the new Yahoo Go TV service for the PC, mobile phone and television that it introduced Friday morning during Chairman and CEO Terry Semel’s Consumer Electronics Show keynote.

The service connects users to Yahoo’s Web services whether they use a TV, a cellphone or a PC, Mr. Semel said. “We are installing new applications right on devices, which makes it easier for users to get the stuff they want, whether they are in the living room or around town,” he said.

Yahoo Go TV brings the Yahoo community experience to the TV via an interface that’s optimized for the TV screen, letting users access Yahoo services solely with a remote and without the need for a keyboard or a mouse.

The service will also include Yahoo’s video search on the TV, and those videos can be watched on the TV as well. The service will also let users watch Yahoo’s popular movie trailers on the TV.

Yahoo Go TV is also optimized for higher performance on the Intel-powered Viiv platform for PCs.
