Fox Wins Week in Adults 18-49, Total Viewers

Fox’s “American Idol” reigned supreme for the week ended March 12, with the music reality series taking the top three spots in the adults 18 to 49 demographic and the top two spots in total viewers.

The Wednesday edition of “Idol” was the No.1 program for the week in adults 18 to 49 with a 12.4 rating, a number that includes live-plus-same-day viewing, according to Nielsen Media Research. Tuesday’s “Idol” was second with an 11.8, followed by the special Thursday results show with a 10.8. ABC’s Sunday night dramas rounded out the top five with “Grey’s Anatomy” scoring a 9.9 and ABC’s “Desperate Housewives” tying CBS’s Thursday night drama “CSI” for fifth place with an 8.8.

In total viewers Wednesday’s “Idol” was tops with 30.4 million, followed by “Idol” Tuesday with 28.6 million. “CSI” was third with 27.2 million, followed by Thursday’s “Idol” (26.6 million) and “Grey’s” (22.5 million).

Fox was the highest-rated network for the week in adults 18 to 49 with a 5.6, followed by CBS (3.8), ABC (3.4), NBC (2.8), UPN (1.3) and The WB (1.0).

In total viewers Fox was also tops with 13.5 million, followed by CBS (12.6 million), ABC (9.1 million), NBC (8.3 million), UPN (3.1 million) and The WB (2.4 million).
