Katie O’Connell, currently NBC’s New York-based program development executive, has been named senior VP of drama development for NBC, and will relocate to the network’s Burbank, Calif., corporate offices.

Ms. O’Connell will continue to report to Katherine Pope, executive VP of NBC Entertainment. The network has not announced a successor for Ms. O’Connell, who had been senior VP of New York development for NBC since July 2005. The announcement was made Wednesday by Kevin Reilly, president of NBC Entertainment.

Since joining the network last year, Ms. O’Connell shepherded the pilot for Candace Bushnell’s adaptation of her book “Lipstick Jungle,” which is shooting this summer. She also worked with writer/actor Tina Fey’s comedy and a pilot presentation featuring comedian Sam Seder.

She joined NBC after a five-year stint at Imagine Television, where she was executive VP of development and current programming. Prior to joining Imagine, Ms. O’Connell was director of comedy development for CBS.
