Fox Wins Week in Adults 18 to 49, CBS Tops in Total Viewers

Fox was the No. 1 network in the adults 18 to 49 demographic for the week ended April 9, while CBS was tops with total viewers.

The Tuesday edition of Fox’s “American Idol” was the No.1 program in both demos, scoring an 11.6 rating in adults 18 to 49 and 28.8 million total viewers, numbers that include live-plus-same-day viewing, according to Nielsen Media Research.

“Idol” Wednesday was second in both demos, garnering a 10.8 in adults 18 to 49 and 26.2 million viewers. Fox’s “House” took third place in adults 18 to 49 with a 9.3, followed by CBS’s “CSI” (7.4) and ABC’s “Lost” (6.9). Fox’s new reality series “Unan1mous” tied for sixth place with CBS’s telecast of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament championship with a 6.2.

In total viewers, “CSI” came in third with 23.3 million, followed by “House” (22.7 million) and NBC’s Monday edition of “Deal or No Deal” (17.8 million). The NCAA championship was sixth in total viewers with 17.5 million.

Fox was No.1 in the advertiser-friendly demo for the week with a 4.2, followed by CBS (3.6), ABC and NBC (both 3.1), Univision (1.5), The WB and UPN (both 1.2) and Telemundo (0.4).

In total viewers CBS garnered 12.4 million, followed by Fox (9.9 million), NBC (9.3 million), ABC (8.1 million), Univision (3.5 million), The WB and UPN (both 2.9 million) and Telemundo (788,000).
